I do not support the proposed closure and integration of Winchester Post Office into W.H Smiths premises. Primary concerns are that service levels will decline and increased waiting due to lengthy queues. In addition the WH SMith premises already have limited space and seem over crowded. The addition of more people and counter space will do little to reduce this. In viewof this I do not think this is an effective solution or service for the residents of Winchester.

I cannot conceive how such an ridiculous idea could get so far! Since both the post office and this branch of W H Smith are usually both overcrowded as it is at peak times, it is extremely inappropriate to combine the two. Moreover, elderly people, arriving on buses at Winchester bus station will no longer be able to combine a grocery shop at the only supermarket, Sainsbury\'s, and the nearby post office without a lengthy walk uphill to the WH Smith branch. Some will undoubtedly find this impossible. If this move is willfully pressed ahead, the outcome will be extremely unfortunate for the residents of Winchester, -and for the shoppers at W H Smith!

I think it is ridiculous to move the Post Office to W.H. Smith. It will be like taking the heart out of Winchester, you only have to look outside the Post Office to see the number of people who meet there and sit for a rest on the seats, and they have the cheek to now call it The People\'s Post Office; talk about adding insult to injury. The public are treated like cattle - you only have to look at the crowds of shoppers in Sainsbury\'s since Somerfield were priced out of the High Street. Sometimes it is so busy I cannot face going in, and I suspect that W H Smith\'s will be the same once the Post Office moves into that site. Christmas shopping and all that it entails with parcels to post, etc. will be an absolute nightmare. The views of the man in the street seem to count for nothing anymore. It is a done deal and we cannot wait to move away from Winchester.

The plans appear to be aspirational at best.
It is far from clear that reasonable levels of service and accesibility can be achieved in the franchise operation at the Winchester WH Smith location.
Without some information about the commercial relationships and implicit service levels, it is perhaps reasonable to assume that \'unprofitable\' customers and offerings will be a very low priority.
More open discussions are necessary in this case of public service, monopoly suppliers and expenditure of public funds.

It shouldn\'t be removed. Big queues in post office round the clock. Big queues in WHSmiths. WHSmiths is a small shop. Also, WHSmiths is further up the high street, while the post office is near the bus station, meaning older people, most likely the predominant, and most enthusiastic users of the postal system, as well as those with disablities, would have to endure more effort in order to post a letter or more worryingly, a parcel. WHSmiths simply could not cope with the size of two queues, not to mention hosting unknowledgable staff. Where is the spirit of the post office if it doesnt even have \"post\" in the name?
